Theatre, along with other strong narratives, has been used as a platform within social change. More recently, Black Lives Matter has used the Broadway show Hamilton within their social movement. Additionally, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda has publicly made connections between the two. This research focuses on how the concepts of Hamilton, a story of the American Revolution, showcase concepts that Black Lives Matter emphasize within the present social revolution. The theoretical framework of Critical Race Theory is used to see how a story of the American Revolution is seen within Black Lives Matter, today’s social revolution.
